Maybe I missed it here but I read Honda will race the Baha 1000 with a "stock" rincon. This is according to honda going to prove how fast and reliable the rincon is.

I will say it is nice to see Honda showing interest in ATV racing of any sort since they have in the past shown none.

Yeah a couple people have said this (I am one of them), its nice to see that Honda is getting into racing, although I wish it were GNC or GNCC, but its a start.

Class win not overall. Why knock their effort I mean if this sell quads for them maybe we will see more support in other areas.

I believe that this is just a publicity stunt for public relations on Hondas part to try and show that there new Rincon is reliable and durable, and not any type of move to get back into supporting racing, at least not until they come out with a new sport quad. Whenever a new quad comes to market the public is usually concerned about 1st year reliablitiy and can the machine hold up, if Honda can field a Rincon and not neccessary win but just to finish the race will be a success for them. A few years back when Kia the Korean car maker came out with the Sportage they entered it in some rally type races to show how it could hold up, again this was basically for advertizing. Honda will probably do the same with the Rincon in the Baja 1000. Just my $.02

in the past, Mike Penland has won at least 3 different times in the BAJA 1000 on a Wolverine...
not sure which class it was

if a 350 can do it... a 650 aught to be able to

You have a class break down just as anyother type of racing. At the very least the could run the exabition class. A few years back I watched so hugh Drakar trucks running this these things looked like 18 wheelers.

I like how you guys talk about honda getting back into racing, and releasing a new sport quad. The 400EX is a very, very capable racer. It's handling makes up for the lack of power (BTW it has lots of power for 85% of the racing crowd)

Rincon,

What we are talking about is Honda backing a racing team in national events not whether their current machines are capable of competing. Honda has a great showing at races as far as people using their machines, Honda just has not sponsered a team in years and that is what everyone would like to see.
BTW, I use to own a XR250 back when I was in high school, it was a great bike.

Yes the 400EX is a capable racer, but not when compared to the C-dale and Z400 (in the pro class). If the 400EX has enough power for 85% of the people, then why do most of those 85% put exhausts, big bore kits, and so on, probably because it isnt quite fast enough. I agree the 400EX is a nice bike, but it isnt the best when compared to the new DOHC, liquid cooled engines, not to mention the EFI and aluminum frame and such on the C-dale also. From what I've read, the 400EX no longer handles the best having now been surpassed by both the Z400 and C-dale also. So when you put up the 400EX against something that has more power and handles better, then the 400EX is going to lose, therefore most people want Honda to come out with a new high-performance quad.
