Sorry to tell you but you will lose, I think you would have to have a tricked out 440ex to beat them in the drags. The banshee has a power band that comes on very strong and revs very high, they are usually the king of drags. I have heard that a lot of the new big bore manchines are real close if not a little faster than the banshee, depending on mods of both machines and rider ability. Where you can give the banshee fits is on the trails and mx track as the high strung nature of the banshee does not workwell in tight trails. I have personally riden with some guys with banshee and on the tight trails I could stay with them, but out in the open roads they would blow by me like I was standing still. Just remember your 400ex has a better chasis, better suspension, and handles better than a banshee. Just let them talk all the smach they want about drags and then you can smoke them on the trails. Dont get me wrong they are both nice machines, they just have different niche.

Do your friends ride stock Banshees??? If they are piped they will really killy you in a drag. If they are stock... Well, they will still kill you in a drag but not as bad. I'm pretty sure you need to go to a big bore kit to keep up with stock but keeping up with modied Banshees is another story. There are 440exs that can keep up and even beat some piped Banshees but that;a 400ex with ALL the mods and a Banshee with ONLY pipes. If you want to show your Banshee friends something - concentrate on handling and rider skill.

You dont need a built 440 to beat piped banshees... Im still stock bore and on 92 octane and i was running away from them....

I drag race a fully modded 416ex it will beat a stock banshee like there is no tomorrow. Right from start to finish I lead, my top speed is higher then a stock banshee also and in 300 feet even a slightly modded banshee with pipe's I can beat but it's a much closer race. I realize the driver play's a role here in who win's but we have traded machines, anyways back to subject
The BUT"S I have also spent insane amounts of money on the motor, bumpers and graphic kit's only make you look faster.
Bump your displacement and compression, port and flow the head and do the valves, and get a big cam don't bother with a XR400 cam, this will help for now if your pocket book can do it. However it won't help by this weekend. lol
Good Luck

if money aint an issue, then i have 2 words for you
turbo charger
this thing will increase ur HP numbers by at least 2x. add the 440 kit, higher compression, bigger ports, and better flow exhaust(if u dont have them already) and u will definatly smoke a banshee(depends on the mods) but a turbo charger is the best bang for the buck for 4-strokes. DW did a test for a turbo charger on a raptor and 400ex, i think the numbers for the 400ex(stock except turbo) raised the hp from around 28 - 32 hp, to a amazing 65 - 70 hp number.

LMAO
My opinion would be go with the 465 or punch it out to a 500 but your reliability will suffer..
