sparks reed cage for a 250r
#1
anybody currently using a sparks reed cage on their 250r? i bought one and after installing it there is a 3/8 inch gap between the rear of the carb an the stock airbox boot. what seems to be the way to correct this problem. sparks said to cut the front airbox mounting post off and move them forward. i did this but now the air boot is hitting the shock. thanks for the help

Someone makes an aluminum "tube" which you can install and lengthen that section. Can't remember if it's Eddie Sanders or who you can get that from. I had the same problem, I ended up removing the 2 rubber pieces on the subframe the airbox rested on, unscrewed the rear screw on the airbox and I was able to move mine forward enough to get that sucker clamped in place.

well, i spoke with scott again. he said you had to use a spacer on the 1986 model cylinders. well, that is what my friends has, so i ordered him a spacer. well see what that does when it comes in.
