Some people say the z is a lot faster then the 400ex is that true or is it just a little better. What do you think would race better. Is the z as reliable as the ex or will it break more if you jump it and push it hard. I have a 300ex and i am selling it for th z or the 400ex please help me.

look at the stats, the honda is uh...4 years old, and unchanged since it came out in 99. it is known as the best handling quad out there. the z is a first year model, and there are already complaints of cracked frames, bent axles, etc. im not saying that it may not be a good machine, but the honda is tried and true. it may turn into something like teh FX400 or the 01 raptors, with recalls and problems every where you turn. then again, the z may be a sweet quad. but im gonna stick with the honda.

I would take the Z. It has mostly what is good about the ex but some better power, liquid cooled engine and a reverse gear. And most of all it is the same msrp price. From what ive heard the axels were fixed and the frame problems can happen with any quad out their. Some people a few months ago that were complaining about the frame damage had small collisions and where wondering why they had a bent frame? IMO its a simple choice... Z 400

Yeah, the 400EX's are tried and true after it's 1st year runs experiencing cracked swing arms. All 1st years have some sort of prob. and even after that not all are perfect. I, too, 2nd the Z as being the obvious choice, but that's just my opinion.

Its not fun though, I have been working my but off on this dogged out warrior every since I bought it. I have finally gotten all the engine and exhaust and everything taken care of now I just noticed the A arms probably need new bushings, and its needs a new chain, a new clutch, and its going to have to be in the shop a while to get rear brakes put on. I may have saved a lot of money buy a fixer upper and getting parts off ebay, but If I were to ever buy another one it would not be used and I would pick it for sheer reliablity, screw performance. Say hello kfx700, no chain, only a belt, no tranny gears to wear out, no clutch to wear out, all thats in one tight simple package. Would only need pipes to be blazin fast so no sacrificing reliability for power. Now if I could only figure out how to shave 100lbs off of one. Wouldnt really matter though unless I shaved 60lbs off of me, but then id feel like a panzy.
