Bent 250r frame?
#1
My little brother just got an 86 trx250r, i was looking over it and notices a couple of sloopy welds and some reinforcement plates welded in there. My only concern is that it may of been wacked and bent once. The reinforcement plates are located up frt right where the lower frame tube connects to one that that goes up on a slant and then to the frt bumper.(i hope that makes sense, its hard to explain) It seems to steer right and every thing. Has anyone seen this done to one of these before? Could it really effect the strenght? What do you guys think about it?

If you are talking about up front were the tin plate is on bottom that is common on the ones that were not washed and left caked with mud. Water lays in between the plates and rust the frame into under the plates. When you cut the plates open there will not be much left.

Almost every 250r stock frame is cracked, that is if it has been ridden hard moto x is the worst on hte frame, thats why most moto x racers have aftermarket frames..........if he isn't going to be jumping, i would reweld the cracks gusset it and ride...

Just took anothe look at it and it looks as if it may of hit a tree or wall at high speed.
He jumps but nothing crazy, just duning, i think it shoiuld be fine.
Does honda still have stock frames for these?

Out of all the bikes ever made, 250Rs have parts available from everyone. I know of 5 or 6 different manufactures of frames for your bike. Unfortunately they are around $2500 or more. But they are all upgraded from the original design..
