I have a problem with my ATC 250r where the chain becomes so loose that it smacks the swing arm sometimes when i am riding. Is there a way i can take out a link or two on the chain with/out the use of any special tools. If i really need a chain splitter, where can i get one and how much do they cost?

It doesn't take any special tools to take a link out of a chain if you know what your doing and don't into a big hurry.

Are you having a hard time keeping the chain adjusted? Maybe the chain is so stretched out it's time to replace it, along with new sprockets. If you adjust the chain at the axle and move it all the way and still are having slack problems, it's time to replace it. Removing a link or two will help for awhile, but it's just a matter of time and you'll have to replace all that stuff.

 

I am thinking of getting an O-ring chain because everytime i adjust the chain (via the axle carrier) the chain just gets loose again after riding. How much would an o_ring chain cost, and do they make one long enough for my needs? I have an extended swing arm.

o ring chanis vary from about 50 - 70 dollars depending on manufacturer
