I have a Recon, I noticed the 250EX is a sport model of the Recon, are they the same bikes with different plastics?

 

There ain't no stupid questions here...stupid answers sometimes but no stupid questions........no they're not the same bike....i know nothing of sport bikes but i checked the net and here are some specs...you'll see some differences here, but others will be able to tell you more....keep checking back

the recon and 250 use many of the same drive train components however the sport bike has more suspension, a slightly higher compresion and lighter weight

Well I'm new here, got alot of questions, again thanks to all!!!!!!

 

They are both basically the same machine. The recon came out first in 1997 and the 25ex came out in 2000 (i think). It had the recon motor with some slight motor mods for more sportiness and in 2002 they updated the recon to the ex specs. The 250ex does have front disc brakes and thats about it and i think it might even have an oil cooler???

Thanks specta....i always try to remember that i was a rookie here once and was kind of afraid to ask a stupid question...but as you say, there are nice people in here, and they were quite helpful....a lot of the questions that i do know the answers to are only because someone here was kind enough to answer the same question for me at one time.....best of luck.
