Hi there i don,t know what tires to get i am really interested in the 589 itps but i wanna get them over sized like to 28 inch and i have a lift kit but will i lose alot of power putting them on or will i have to get mods to keep them spinning.Will they be good on a foreman in the mudd and on dirt trails with snow.!? I live up in the mountains where there is snow and i get stuck with the crappy stock ones, will these 589 s that i wanna buy make it alot better or will they reck my drive chain??

I have a set of Blackwater XT's (27") on my Forman and was the best improvement I've made so far!!! I don't feel that I have lost very much power at all from adding these tires. My overall top speed has increased, because now the speedo reads slower than I am actually going. (Test before and after with someone following you in a car/truck) These tires rock in mud, snow and hill climbing.
The 589's look good too, they wern't out when I bought mine, the blackwaters have a decent ride on hardpack too, don't know what the 589's are like on hard surfaces.

I'm in the same dilemna. I have a 2003 450S and I'm wondering about tires. I've heard the ITP mudlites are a good comprimise because they are light and not to agressive. I'm thinking about the 26inch mudlites for me, I do some mud, lots of snow(Nova Scotia) and alot of hardpack. Post when you decide.

The 26" Mud Lite is a XL they have a lug 1" deep . The 25" and down have a lug 5/8" deep. If you use the 26,27 or 28" stay with the 10" all the way around. The tens fit better on the rims. I have around 80 sets out there now and the feedback has been very good.

Stay with the 10 all the way around? The 26x12x12 don't fit very well on the back? What happens? I was thinking 26x10x12 for the front, and 26x12x12 for the back. Would I lose much power going from 25 to 26 for my 450s? Thanks for the input

I just put a set of 26" Mudlites on my 650 and I gotta tell ya those 12 inchers on the rear are BIG. I think his reason for suggesting the 10 inch for the rear is to keep the weight down even more and the narrower tire will be easier to spin and self clean. The 10 inch wide ones are noticably wider than the stock rears that are concidered 10 inch. When mine were delivered I thought about returning and exchanging the 2 rear 12 inch ones for 10`s. But I decided to mount them and see how I liked them for this summer. HTH

I'm just curious when talking about tire sizes what do the numbers represent. For example, a tire size of 25x10x12 means what? I know that the 25 is the diameter but what about the footprint and wall height, what numbers would those be? Thanks in advance for your responses!

25 = height as stated by manufacturer not always acurate
10 = tread width again not acurate but usually closer
12 = wheel diameter needed
Thats it, atv tires don`t have a sophisticated or descriptive nomenclature like automotive ones.
