Try a set of Bearclaws. An excellent, fairly inexpensive 6-ply tire.

I recently put on ITP Holeshot ATR's, mounted on ITP 12X7" rims (they won't fit your stock rims). These tires are wonderful!! They really enhance sportiness of the ride and handling of the machine. Even the 2X4 does extremely well in the snow and mud (although we don't have the really gooey clay muds that you have in some places).

I have the 489 XT's stock size. They do real well for a 2x4. Clean themselves very well, great traction in the mud and snow.

I say something along the lines of 589's, gators, mud bugs, etc. I know that you can get all of those in sizes to fit stock rims. Mud lites would be good too, I dont know about sizes though.

I would recomend a set of itp blackwaters. Very puncture resistent and they dig like crazy.

For mud, blackwaters are NOT the way to go. Maybe for just a little mud, but for stuff like us here in LA, I don't think so. Just click on the link in my sig.

The new ITP Mudlites look nice. A lot of people who have purchased them so far seem to like them. I think thats what I will be going with when the time arrives. I've had Maxxis Sur Traks in the past and liked those also.
