416 vs Raptor
#2
I doubt any...
unless it's a proerly built 416, and a poorly tuned stock Raptor
think about it... the bottom line is the Raptor has a 40% larger motor!
although it only puts out 20% more power.... that's still alot

displacement doesnt mean jack! As long as your motor is ported and setup to be more efficient then the other guy you have the game wrapped up. I destoy raptors all day long on my gas 370r...and im half the size! I raced a methanol sparks 465ex last weekend and ate him up by 4 bikes. Oh but wait...it doesnt count if 2-strokes race 4-strokes....least thats what he said....lol
There is a guy out there that has a pretty fast 416, im sure you could make a 416 fly. Not like raptors are fast anyways jk

It's not all that uncommon for a properly built 416 to be able to take a Raptor. It all depends on the engine - will the piston alone do it? No. Will a 416 on alky with 13.5:1 compression, wild cam, 41FCR, etc, etc do it? Absolutely, and then some.
Personally I have a Hot Cams Stage1, port work, FCR39, Sparks X4, ~10.8:1 compression, 87mm lightened JE piston, and modified airbox and have no trouble at all with even most piped & jetted Raptors. In fact, I can run right with & sometimes edge away from my stepfather's Moto (and can outrun my Cannibal, which is also faster than a stock Raptor).
If memory serves me correctly, JE has offered an 88mm piston for at least a few years, although .120 over is getting very thin & while I wouldn't do it on my personal machine, I know a lot of people that have - 416 on a stock sleeve is perfectly acceptable & has run with 100% stock type reliability in my quad & a close buddy's for about 2.5 years now.

Gabe I always have enjoyed reading your posts. Very knowledgable..
A properly tuned 416 can beat a Raptor easily. The key to that is PROPERLY tuned. An "out-of-the-box" 416 kit probably wouldn't get the job done. By out of the box I am meaning a piston, bore, pipe, etc. The 416 bore is probably one of the fastest and most usable bores out there for the EX. After you get a 416 done right(flow work, bore, piston, cam, rev limiter, pipe, etc), a stock Raptor won't stand a chance.

Thanks Lonestar...
Gotta stay away from those built Banshee's and Raptors though in the drags... Both have tons of potential when built - same goes for the R. Got a little project going myself to satisfy my 2 stroke desires though
