im thinking about geting a new 440ex all my friends are telling me that a moded z 400 could waste my ***!! is this true.

A Piped Z 400 in my opinion the 440 would beat it.If he has a big bore kit in the Z forget about it the Z will be faster. late,zubbeyboy

 

EXFOREVER-my wife rides a 440 ex that is very fast and reliable and can beat any stock raptor and some piped raptors.i will list for you what her buildup consists of and you can decide for yourself wehter or not to do the same but this thing flat out hauls and is very consistent in its performance.11;1 high comp piston /440 cc/165 main jet/ stock air filter and box(and yes it does a very good job with the stock air filter and box)/mid range cam/fmf power bomb header/ fmf q muffler/white bros rev box.i would highly recommend building a motor the same way or as close as is possible because this setup can surprise a lot of banshee and raptor riders and that just adds to the fun factor.good luck (i almost forgot, the last thing we added was the powroll air box lid and it made a noticeable difference in throttle response and power)

 

Well built 440 will smoke a z400.

 

I agree with Prang! A well built 440 WILL smoke a Z400!

 

A well built Z440 will SMOKE a well built 440EX. Mod for mod, the Z is faster.

 

If you're looking for a cheap alternative for Z400 killing power; my 416 has beaten every piped Z400 it has come up against. For $300 you too can smoke piped Z400's. My mod list is:

Ross 416 forged piston - $125.00
Stage II Hot Cam - $120.00
Gasket's and machine work - $65.00

I do agree however that mod for mod the Z will still be faster.

 

Z and Ex are close if you are good rider you will be close no matter what... Neither one will "smoke" the other. I could take my EX and ride with anything...except the Predator...

 

I have seen a 400ex with a xr400 cam and wb r4, vs a z400 with r4 and the z won 3 out of 4 times but it was always less than a quad lenth

 

i may not be the most knowledgable, but i do know that whatever kit you may get i highly recommend getting the Sparks 440 w/ Stage II Hot Cam.....ive seen em first hand lay down Z's
