I just noticed that i need a new axle on my 86 250r. Should i spend 300 on a eliminator? What about dura blue's HD axle...how does it compare to the honda stock axle. I have little need to make it wider than stock, but this may be something that i may want in the future. Im just not sure what to buy..i can get a stock honda axle for 200, a eliminator for 300 or a HD for 249. What do you all think?

I had the same problem stock axles are juust not built strong enough. I have an 87 quadzilla with a eliminator axle +2 inches on the bike. I have bent this one already and got another one. after that i havent had a problem with this axle. I also have an 87 250x which the splines were worn down and the hubs rocked. So i put a used dominator axle on the 250x that had +1 +2 settings with sleeves that slide on the axle so i took the sleeves off of the axle and put the hub all the way on and put the sleeves on the outside of the axle. So now i have a stock size axle that can be moved +1 or +2 in the future.

I am not real sure about how much a Lonestar axle costs (expensive), but they are very strong, and have a lifetime warranty. They also have sleeves to slide over the splines so that you can adjust the width of the axle. I believe it goes from minus 1 to plus 2 on each side. In my opinion, I would spend the extra to get an axle with a lifetime warranty so that I never had to buy one again.

Make sure the warrenty is not pro rated. Read the fine print.

The dura blue remained straight.spacers are opp for width.

You should buy my brand new Lonestar axle for $325, which is a substantial savings over new. It has a lifetime warranty and I have never broken one before.
