I know the 300ex is a very reliable 4-stoke just wanted to know how the 400ex reliablty compares to the 300ex. Does it have common problems and if so what kind? And also wanted to know how the 400ex compare to 300ex in trail riding? Which is better 300ex or 400ex? THANKS FOR IN INFO!!!! (Trails would consit of a mud, little jumps and lots of trees)

 

The guy I ride with has had no problems with his except for the damage that HE has done crashing into things.

 

the 400EX's engine family has been used since 1983, when the XR500R was born, very very reilable and bullet proof. Probley even more so than the 300EX due to the 400 having camshaft berrings and a huge cam chain. The 300 does have reverse so tight trails may be more fun with the 300

 

1 year and countless hours on trails and at sand mountain. No problems even with all the mods i have done.
