Just got a new '00 Rancher, luv it! I moved up a little from my '94 300, which I still have. The 300 is used for hunting, trapping and enjoying the great outdoors in general, so the new Rancher should fit right in. I don't see many posts from the "west", seems most are mid west, south and folks are always buying machines, then, first thing, trying to change them....tricked out, faster, 2wd....etc. Y'all should look at why you are buying a machine, then buy what fits your needs. I'll send stories about the new Rancher latter...

I havent really pushed my rancher yet, but the first day i drove it through water that came over the front fenders-it was great. ive gotten stuck a few times, but it was super deep mud. i love going through deep water, and yes i do make sure that the water doesnt go too far so it gets in the intake.

I got my Rancher in November I love it more every time I ride it. It seems to work much better now then even when it only had 1000klms on it now I have 1700. Only read of one problem on here and everyone seems to love them. Seems to me the guys at Honda did their homework and went with the old pushrod engine. Some people may critisize this old style engine but there is no doubt these engines have lots of low end torque. I can ride mine in 5th at 30klms. Keep the revs low on these quads for best performance.

I have one good story. This past weekend the kid was riding (breaking in) his E-ton 90. We were all climbing this hill, actually an ash pile from when Mt. St. Helens exploded. The hill was problaly 75 ft tall at a 30-35 degree incline. This is not technical at all. The Rancher could start a the base of the hill & from a dead stop climb it in second gear! I thought not bad. I thought lets see what it could do backwards. The Rancher climbed up this hill in reverse & didn't even sputter. The hardest thing on the climb was keeping my head turned around so I could see where I was going. Later the motorcycle guys said they had never seen a quad climb that hill backwards.

I went on a trip last weekend and used my son's Rancher instead of my Foreman. I was very impressed with just how much fun the bike is. It handles well and the new front end really digs in.

The other two bikes on the trip were both 450 ES Foremen. We decided to run them off and oddly enough the Rancher was a bit faster on top end. In the middle gears it was all Foreman, however.

Gas mileage was better with the Rancher as well. At halfway we filled up ... the two Foreman took $5.75 and $5.94 respectively while the Rancher took $4.70.

Honda has got another winner on its' hands.
