I used to like twist better until I started riding in rougher terrain. When jumping over trees or rock ledges I like the thumb throttle. -Picture riding up a steep incline littered with large rocks with no exact line to take and at the top of the hill is a solid rock ledge rising approximately 2 feet from the dirt. There is no place to go but up and over and no going back. When you hit the ledge with your front wheels kicking up and your holding on for your life. There's a chance that the throttle hand will jurk backward and apply too much gas. Then your going places nobody wants to be.
I'm sure alot of people like the twist. But I feel like I have better control on rough trails with the thumb throttle.

Definitely personal preference on this one...

You'll find about an equal # on each side of this arguement... I prefer the thumb!
Started out on bikes, so I love the twist too... just not on a quad.
There's a reason quads or snowmobiles don't have 'em.

Have fun the first time you make a hard right turn, while keeping the gas peged. You have to have your elbow all the way tucked in and your wrist cocked all the way back. It's not easy.
