2000 Honda Rancher 350 es
#1
My Honda Rancher is stuck in Reverse. I was advised that these machines had a re-call on a electric shift component. I never received a re-call and now the thing won't work. It is stuck and the selector switch clicks only on forward. I was able to free it up once. Please advise.

try looking underneath and find the reverse cable and make sure it is releasing all the way, and make sure the cable is in the holder properly. good luck. also check your clutch adjustment.

You didn't say if you could shift out of reverse manually with the lever included as part of your toolkit. Assuming you can't, the best possibility is the tran linkeage. That's the topic of the shift bulletin you refer to. The part of the linkeage that turns the shift drum cracks. The typical symptom is stuck in rev or 5th, depending on which side of the shift arm cracks. You can access it by removing the front engine cover, or just bring it to a Honda dealer as I believe that is a current bulletin and they would have no problem warrantying it as long as that's what the problem is (vast odds are it is).

Thanks for the info. Your are correct as I finally did take it to a Honda dealer. Although Honda would rather refer to the fix as a shift update rather than recall, The machine will be repaired under the bulletin you were speaking of. Thanks for your input.
