What was the first year Honda made the 400EX Fourtrax?

acutally 98 when i got mine but it was a 99

 

Ok, thanks! Is there anything different, or any problems between the 99, 00, and 01 400EX's?

I'm looking to buy a used one this summer.

 

The only changes that were not changes to the decals or the name was done after the 2000 model which is a rubber cover placed over the electrical connectors and the front of the battery.

 

I have a 99, bought in september 98. I broke the swingarm and my local dealer replaced it for free and I didn't even buy it there! He replaced it with a 00 swingarm claiming they're making them with a different alloy.

 

then why not replace both?

 

I heard it was in 02 they got a stronger swingarm, but they can't be that much stronger, they still break!

Could be, although, I got mine replaced in 00.

 

Iam thinking about getting a 400ex! if iam only doing jumps that are say 5-7 feet high is the swing arm somthgin i have to worrie about??
