I have a solution: don't wear boots. This is personal preference. I have big feet, size 11, and boots are just too awkward. I feel unsafe riding with them. Can't beat a pair of tennis shoes.

Ok so that is how you prevent the scratching but what about after the damage is done? I have a yellow Foreman and the plastic down by my boots is scuffed white. Not deep scratches but just fine scuffs that turn the plastic a whitish shade.

ummmm I think you should wear your boots Mike. I went for a ride without my boots on and broke my leg. I did the same thing before with my boots on and it didn't even hurt my leg.so I dunno.......

I still have my boots but they are so big (size 11) and clunky that I actually feel unsafe riding with them. I totally agree with you on protection, but I don't feel comfortable wearing them. We'll see. I'll try them again next time I ride.

My boots also rub the plastic. I agree to try some clear plastic sheet. That might also bring back the shine. Also riding boots to me feel unsafe too I have size 10. I stopped using mine and got a good pair of steel toe work boots that go above the ankle. They are much cooler and do not scratch and allow for much more ankle movement for shifting and braking. But the downside is with less support it is easier to get an ankle injury.

Yes, the riding boots scratch up my plastic too.

You should keep wearing those boots and give them a chance to "break in". Then they will be more comfortable.
