300EX Questions......
#1
I have just come on the opportunity to purchase a used '95 300EX. It has DG Exhaust, K&N Filter, Jetted,(maybe more unsure yet), Nerf Bars, Aftermarket Tires (20x11x9 Rears). It runs real well seems as strong or stronger as some piped warriors I've ridden. The bike is in great shape
The questions I have are:
Do the 300EX respond to mods like these well as compared to stock or Warriors and such???
What is the biggest front sprocket that will fit the 300EX without loosing the case saver????
Do you think its worth $1000?????
With the motor mods and bigger sproket do you think it will climb hills as strong and quick(or stronger and quicker) as a modded Warrior??????
Let me know guys, I kinda feel its a good buy, it will suit me until I get things straightened out to get another new quad.
I ride with guys on Piped Warriors, Piped 400EX's, New Z's, Rappys, and such. We are major trail riders and lots of hills around here. Most of our ridding is fast paced.

From what I have seen in the pits a 300Ex will do moderately well and for that price who really cares. It will move along pretty good but I have seem bored 300's that still have some trouble with hills. They are what they are and that is a great middle bike with reverse. I would be quite happy with one.

Yeah for 1k go for it. It won't run with a piped warrior though. Sound like a great deal, not sure about the sproket, but I bet it will only take one more tooth up front with the case saver. I used to have a Warrior for the misses and it had the usual pipe/filter sporket mods, my buddies wife has a 300es with all the same and a high comp piston , bores .030 over, cam, ported and polished, and she still was behind my wife, but it handles alot better than a warrior.
Go for it

Any thing bigger than the stock front sprocket will not let you use the case saver, I went to a 14 tooth front, and can't get the sprocket to fit with the case saver in place. If anyone knows of an aftermarket for it, let me know.

Thanks guys,
I just found a little better deal and still deciding on which one.......97 Warrior bored .40 Stage 1 Stroker kit with cam and all (Hi-Comp Piston). A whole bunch of extras (Piped, etc), new bushings through out, just needs a new set of rear tires for $1400....I believe I would be more satisfied with the Warrior at this point with that price and mods. It sounds like a better deal. I believe the modded warrior would out perform and be just a tad more roomier the EX I mentioned with those mods...We will just have to see....
Thanks for all the replies....
