I am in the process of putting a cam in my 400ex. I made the mistake of not marking the timing chain while taking things apart and now I don't have any reference as to where the cam gear should go. I have the motor on TDC according to the flywheel and i know that all the cam lobes must be pointed down. Any suggestions on how to align everything properly? I noticed a white mark on the timing chain but it doesn't look like it matches with the motor being on TDC, does it have any meaning? any help would be appreciated.

OK, there are 3 lines on the cam gear, two are probably bigger than the other. With the flywheel on the 'T' mark align the two bigger marks up with the upper surface on the head and the smaller mark on the top. Another way to say it is put the small mark on 12 o'clock and the other marks at 3 & 9 o'clock.
Hope this helps,
