Tires for 400EX

a 49 tooth?!?!?!? i dont think they make one that big, i think what u mean is a 39? 22" razrs.... depends on what kind of riding u do, if u like mx way wrong choice in size, if u like desert racing and hill climbing they might be ok but will take alot of HP (ur bike doesnt have) from ur bike. Ur best bet is to go with 20" or 18" (i recommend 18's only for mx)

I think that I am going to put 22's on my 400EX sometime soon. I am kinda having trouble deciding what to get. I want 22's for the ground clearance. I'd like to have XCT holeshots, but I don't want to spend $70/tire. What do you guys think about Kenda Klaws, or dominators? is there something I'm overlooking? Are holeshots going to be my best bet, even if they are expensive? anyone have any durability reports?

i have had good luck with my shredders. i keep the factory size but i went one inch wider in the front. i have not tried other aftermarket tires but i am happy with what i have. i have 4 ply and they are definately more durable than stock. i did lose some torque even with these tires. with going bigger size and the heavy razor II's, you will notice a difference. i mainly noticed a difference in a race in 4th and 5th where my friends would pull on me pretty good after we shifted due to the heavier tire. try looking at www.treaddepot.com. the prices here were farily good as of the last time i looked.

Im not sure how much they cost, but itp has a new holeshot tire out, the MXR. It is supposed to be a lot lighter than the mx, due to a different lug pattern and some other stuff. The lighter the tire the better, you may want to look into them. JMO.

it depends on if you have nerf bars or not also. my friend had dg nerfs and he got 22" razrs for christmas and he had to take his nerfs of because the tires wouldnt fit. it also depends on where you are going to be riding.

yeah i forgot about rockymountainatv.com. the tires here are good prices. when i bought my tires a while back, this place and treaddepot.com's prices were within $10 of each other with shipping included. however, rockymountain did not have my front tires in stock so i went with treaddepot. both are great places to deal with. i would recommend staying away from the 22 rears unless you want the ground clearance.
