Where is the CDI box on a 400ex?

Default Where is the CDI box on a 400ex?

I know you all think I am a really bright guy and all. But i cant find the CDI box to replace it. Please help me. Even a remote location will help.

It's under the front nose piece towards the right side. Under the headlights.

It has a black rubber boot around it and is about 2"x3"? clipped to the front frame rail.

Yep, what they said... A good thing to do is keep the stock one mounted, and rig up a mount for the aftermarket box. This way, you can start your bike and warm it up on the stock box, then turn it off, unplug the stock box and plug the high rev box in. I hear the aftermarket CDI's can make the 400EX very hard to start.

I jsut got back from riding with it on. I couldnt really tell a difference. It was nice to hit some higher RPM's before shifting to 2nd when i was on some huge hills. Helped keep the revs up. Becides that didnt do much. But my motor is also still stock.
