Default 400ex stock baffle

I know this is probally a pretty stupid ? but, Is there anything to gain by removing the stock baffle from the 400ex. I know it will be a bright yellow bumble bee, but any other gains?

Some say yes, but i've also heard it will hurt low end and mid range.
Any answers out there?

there will not be any gain. i saw one bike on a dyno with the spark arrestor off then on. the horsepower was pretty close. i believe the graph showed a little gain in lowend and midrange and then a little loss of highend with it out. here is what i did. i took it out, modded the airbox lid, and rejetted the bike. it does run better than stock but i believe most of that is due to the airbox mods and jet. everyone i ride with has a pipe and i don't. with the spark arrestor out, it is louder. however, it sounds like crap in my opinion.

Air box mods have always given me more hp gains than exhaust. But you need Aftermarket exhaust to get the gains. If that makes any sense.

Yeah, I new that it would sound like crap, and really need to get the aftermarket pipe. I'll have to try your air box and jet suggestion, until I can get my pipe.

Thanks guys.
