Default Should I get a 250r??? Help me.

Okay,

There is a sweet-looking 250r for sale here. He's asking 3800 CDN$.

It looks mint. Says motor has been completely rebuilt, etc, etc.

I have few questions first(sorry these questions are so dumb, but I don't know anyone has a 250r.)

1. I don't know too much(i know the basics) about 2-stroke engines, how much maintenance is needed to keep them healthy and not having to rebuild them. I'm on a tight budget and don't have the money to rebuild an engine. What do I need to do to assure the life of the motor.

2. Are they oil-injected, or do you have to mix gas and oil?? (Dumb question, sorry)

3. Are they hard to keep in the powerband(like a Banshee for example) or you can easily get used to it??

4. Please note any issues I should know.

Reply ASAP, cuz i don't know how long it will be around. Thank you.

Yes, I sold mine to buy a CRF and I miss it now. They are easy to ride, and easy to keep in the powerband, That seems like a good price too, I sold mine for 4500 and most around here(Alberta) seem to be going for that.

The 250R is not oil injected, you must use premix. Reliability is going to depend on what type of riding you do, how hard you ride it, and how well you maintain it. If the motor has been rebuilt recently as you stated it should be OK for a while. Just use a good quality 2-cycle oil, keep the air filter clean, change the tranny oil after each ride, adjust the chain as necessary, and check it over regularly and it'll be fine.

They are very reliable, but you must take good care of it.... If your knowledge is limited... perhaps a 4-stroke would be a better fit.
