jumping ability: one of the best if not the best due to great design and light weight.
speed: They are decent in stock form, but just add a pipe and a better air filter and you could easily play with the big boys and have more fun doing.
handling: arguably the best handling quad ever made, still the most widely used by pros in racing, and the basis (geometery) for aftermarket frames and new atvs.
The worst thing about having a 250r is having to fight off the people that want to buy it from you everytime you go out and buying new back tires. I go through rear tires like toilet paper at a Taco Bell.
Another thing you didn't mention is reliability. While it is possible you could buy a beat up machine, if it is well taken care off it will last forever. My R, other than cleaning the air filter and changing the oil, I haven't turned a wrench on it in 2 years and the compression is still pretty high. Keep in mind this is a 17 year old bike.

Least they have held up for all this time. Better then the Z-400's cracking after 1 season of riding. Only time the frames tend to crack is if they have been MX'ed severely, crashed hard, or just abused like a bat in a homerun derby. Main places the chassis crack is the motor mount area's and around the upper steering stem structure
