New or used?
#1
Is it really worth it? A new atv! For the money you pay! Warranty is short considering? The dealer does not want to let you test drive? It will get banged up sonner or later! Look at used? Already been broken in, hopefully correctly. Taken care of, maybe! Is it a better value for the money, or just a waste of money? I bought a used one for $600.00. Not a bad price! Needed some work, not mechanical, chain, sprocket repair manual, brake pads for spares, oil filer, etc.I now have about $1000.00 in it and enjoy it totaly. Now I am in the process of looking to purchase another one, so my son and I can ride together. A deal like that is hard to beat! Used prices of atv's are almost as much as as new atv! I'm leaning towards a new one, but? Who can help? Any comments would be appreciated? Mark in N.C. Thanks!

I myself went with the used option. I could not afford a new one, really couldn't have afforded a normal priced used one !! A friend of mine bought a new 95, obviously in 95'. He really didn't ride it that hard. But never really maintanced it either, thank god it was a Honda !! My Wife bought it from him for $300 as a christmas gift to ME !! No its not a typo i said $300. I have also put an additional $500-600 into it. Just the minor stuff. But i did have to purchase a CDI and a axle carrier. There was $250 for those two parts !! So i am riding for under $1000. Though it is totally stock i plan on dumping another $350 into it for an exhaust and some extras.

ha, what's this guys name and #...? ha.. sounds like someone that's good to know when they're selling something...
but seriously... i went with the used option... less money, it's going to get beat up,dirty, and scratched anyways... plus the guy i bought it from took great care(i can tell), and probably never used it much(hunter)... and mine looked identical to the ones that were on the Honda show room...(300 4x4)...
another plus to used, is that a well-maintained fourwheeler will practically last you a life time.
though you guys sounded like you got ones at extreme discounts, though sounds like they need work, and if you have the time and the knowledge to do that, that's great. but this was my first atv and had neither. so i ended up getting mine for about 1/2 the price of a new one... good deal in my book.. never needed a thing to do to it...

I went to the Honda dealer to buy a new 400EX, but left with a slightly used one. A guy bought it, THEN decided he couldn't afford it(with the help of his wife), and the dealer bought it back. It still had the full tank of gas in it from the dealer, all he did was unload it, and load it back up! So I still had to break it in, I liked that part, at least I know it was done right. Anyway I saved $400. Why not?
