I just installed a PEP steering stabilizer on my 99 400EX. I'm not really happy with the way it fits. It seems to close to the header and oil tank. Has anyone used one of these before on a 400EX? How did it work for you?

Thanks

I have PEP on my 99 400 and it is very close just like you said. One of my friends has one on his 400 and he had to file off part of the oil cap to get it off. The only reason that it is on my quad know is that it came on it when I bought it used. Any of them are a tight fit on the 400 because of the oil tank.

On my Warrior, the head pipe makes a 180 deg U from the manifold around under the frame to the exhaust pipe & the PEP is located in the middle of the U with the closest part of the pipe about 2 1/2" from the damper. I've had it for over a year & have had no fade from the damper even in our Az heat. So, as long as it doesn't interfere with other parts, I don't think you'll have a problem.

You don't have to file the dip-stick down. Just turn the handlebars one way or the other and the stick cap will clear it. Be advised, I had two PEP sabilizers and I blow the seals out of both of them within a week. I know have a Denton and have had no problems other then the tight fit.
