I spent this past weekend in Glamis riding my IMS 440EX. One of my friends brought his new DS650 and I had the opportunity to spend some time riding that quad. I have to be totally honest with you guys, that quad is fast (he installed stage 2 engine mods) but thats about it! He'd beat me on drag races but in every other aspect my 440ex was better, better hill climbing, way better handling and overall the honda is just a better Quad. The DS650 has a real crappy front end
and steering is a chore (especially on whoops or rough trails).

If any of you guys were thinking about getting a DS650 please think twice and at least find one to test ride.....

BTW....on the Dunes, Bashshee's are without a doubt the Kings of the Hill. I got smoked every time......

Dirt Wheels did a shoot out a few months ago between the Banshee, 400es, 250R & the DS-650. The 400EX wasn't the fastest but it won the overall shoot out.

One our club members has one & he regrets buying it. It has had only 1 1/2 tanks of gas ran thru it & been in the shop 3 times in 4 months.

I think the real competition for the 400ex will be in the CAnnondale & the new Yamaha!

Every quad has its strong points and it's weaknesses. My "race ready" 300EX is a rocket in the woods, and can hang on the track with any machine that isen't pushing 5 digits in the dollar dept. But when you stretch her legs out. Her 60mph top speed doesen't impress too many people.

My 426ex has beaten both on the sand. Up sand mountain. The DS slug had a stage 1 kit. The 440 was set up almost like mine. Except 1 item.

99 426ex , Web Cam, FCR carb w/ twist, CT revlimiter, DMC exhaust, XCT's ,K&N, One kit, Renthal bars, DG nerfs, Armidillo Swingarm plate, 8 paddle Haulers

the ds650 is just way too big and heavy. yes a 440ex is just a 400ex with a bigger piston. later

actually the 250R won the eventual shootout...but they crowned the 400ex winner because honda doesnt produce the 250R anymore

A 426 ex beating a modded ds? Come on guys, if you have to lie about it, at least make it somewhat believable. Why the hell does every honda rider think the 400 x is the best thing since sliced bread? The fact is once the cannondale comes out and the new yamaha, and the ds gets the bugs worked out, the 400ex won't be able to hang. You guys can call me bad names tell me I don't know what I'm talking about, but the truth is the 400 ex is a bunch of crap. Yeah, honda really put a lot of tech into that 28hp motor.
