Default my fourwheeler wont run

we recently rebuilt the top end on my 400ex and it wont start. we have tried everything, we sent the stator to Ricky Stator but it is fine so he did not rewind it. We took it to a certified honda mechanic and he inspected the carb completely and found nothing wrong. It has to be the carb though because it is getting spark with both my stator and the one out of my dad's 99' 400ex. What do you guys think.

the mechanic we took it to did a leak down test and it was one of the 5 or 6 that he has tested that holds over 100 psi.

my dad thinks that it is getting to much fuel and is flooding out all the time. this is because i put a bigger pilot jet in it when it was still stock, but it has alot more vacuum pressure and is sucking in way to much fuel. does this sound logical

Are you sure that you checked your timing. It sounds to me that your timing is off. Even if you think you put the timming chain back on right, it's still possible that your timing could be off. It happen to me!

How long did your carb sit during your rebuilt. Sometimes when you rebuilt a motor and a carb sits the fuel in the carb can turn into varnish and cause your floats to get suck and it can flood your engine. Why don't you try the carb off your dads 99 ex?

We did.. It acts like the thing is firing on every 4th revolution.. Pull starting it doesn't work. It just pops and lurches. I have never seen anything like this before... I'm sure it's something simple but it's driving me crazy.... The top end has been off twice, the original carb has been opened up twice also.. The stator, cdi module and the coil have been switched...It still won't run...... HELP!!!!!

Dude, it sounds like your timing is off. It could be off a tooth or so. Checking your timing is easy. Go to exriders.com. There they have easy guides to check your timing, adjusting valves, and troubleshooting.
