Questions about 440ex
I found a 440ex for $2400. It needs a head gasket. How much would that cost to have fixed by a shop? How much just for parts? Do you think this means that the atv was abused? Any info, opinions or reviews would be great. TIA Heres the ad:

If you can do the work yourself, the repair won't be that bad. A lot of head gaskets go out in the 440's if they use paper gaskets - that's just the nature of the modification. If you get a steel head gasket it will last much longer - at least that's what I hear. I have a paper one and so far my 440's been great, though. But - I don't think the parts needed are going to break the bank.....it's the labor that gets expensive if you have to pay someone else to do it. Doesn't necessarily mean they abused it - like I said, this seems to be a pretty common repair among the 440's. Go do a search on exriders.com's forum under head gaskets and 440's and see how many posts you pull up - you should find some good info there........
