Default Buying a used Fourtrax

I am in the market for a used ATV and found a Honda 2002 Fourtrax 250cc. It has 804 hours on it and I was hoping someone could tell me what the lifespan of these motors were? Thanks

Are you talking about a Recon.

If this is the case that is a lot of hours for a one year old quad.

The tires have to be shot!!

It sure hasn't been sitting much and I would ask for the oil change and airfilter cleaning records.

How much do they want for it?

Did they tell you that there was that many hours on it or is there something installed on it to keep track?

Coyotechaser,

I keep a log book on mine with the aprox hours + or - 15 minutes useage per day. I do this so I have an idea for oil change and other items.

Your right unless they have an hour meter on the quad I doubt if they have kept records though because most don't.

Looks like a Recon here in the states and its not a 4x4 and you will be able to see this by looking at the front end.

$900 dollars US. I might chance it at that price

I was trying to figure out how many hours my Recon had on it. The first year I didn't put much on it because I still had the Warrior. I've been riding ALOT this year right through winter. I don't keep records for the Recon but I wish I did. I do for my vehicles and boat. I was averaging around 5 or 6 hours a week. ( Around 8 miles a day) I change the oil every couple months.
Cal- That price seems a little too good to be true. Are you sure it is a 4x4 or do you mean 2x4? It sounds like a Recon, but I know from the Honda UK site that sometimes they do rename the atv's for other countries. Did it have a speedo on it? I think the UK models come with a speedo. It does seem like the hours are high but if it is in good condition it sounds like a good price. (Comparing to US pricing) Just look it over really good.

three

I would start up a log book right now, better late than never. I use one of those small memo books that are 3x5in.

He states that it is a 4X4 but after your comments I did some checking and found that model doesn't come in a 4X4, only 2X4. The guy is lying. Thanks for all the help
