I just finished putting my R together, I replaced the main bearings and water pump bearings and I also put the thing together cause i sent it to get powder coated. So i take it to the track to try it out and it runs flawlessly, after riding i take it to the car wash and power wash it, next day i start it and it starts sputtering i figured it was water but it didnt stop i cleaned the k&n and put a new v-plug and it does the same thing (the night b4 that when i washed it i put some new gas that my friends had the told me it was something like 118octane so im like hell yea! they didnt know if it was premixed or not so we added some oil) i drained the gas and put some premium pump gas with a new plug and it still does it!!!![img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-mad.gif[/img] I get the old plug and clean it and it runs perfect...what is it with R's and their 'moments'?!?! Its like they get on pms for a while just to **** u off and then alittle while later start working great for no reason. just though id share this....

 

stop putting random "118" octane gas that your friends give you in it and it should be fine

 

yea from now on the only gas thats goin in there i the gas I buy!

 

You must really be a crackhead, running mystery gas in your R...j/k.

 

Mine will run fine one day... Next day Ill go out, start her up, and she wont run worth a damn.. I change plugs, kick the tires, let her warm up, and throw a fit. Next day go out, and she runs like a champ. I honeslty think they do have pms... thats the only explanation.

 

Sounds like electrical on both of your parts. A weak spark in particular. When you power washed it, you may have gotten water inside your stator cover and causing it to act funny.

 

definetaly pull the stator cover off. reuse the gasket. see if its wet.

 

Pull the stator cover off and clean it out and spray some WD40 in there. Let it all dry out good. The only pms I have to deal with is my wife!

 

I also learned the "mystery fuel" lesson myself. I got some gas from a guy and it was bad. The problem was, I saw the vent was open and it had been opened for a few weeks, I saw this but took the gas anyway.. Bad move... Anyway, dont get gas from friends!
