oil in air box

my 300 4x4 is two months old it has a 124 miles on it i checked the air cleaner after a ride and found oil in the box is this just common during break in periods or do i have the beginings of a searious problem

Before I got my 300ex I had 3 300 4x4's and all of them if you go up hills will have a oily gasy feel thats the gas and filter oil mixing and makes it look like engine oil.

If you over oil the air filter it will drain off into the airbox. It's better than under oiled air filter then you spend money on engine parts!

a friend of mine had that happen when his turned upside down, and stayed that way for about a min.

I am not very familiar with the workings of a 300, but the 400 vents its crankcase into the airbox. In this case the airbox will have oil in it if the bike turns over or reaches an angle that lets oil run out of the crankcase vent hole. It should run back into the crankcase, but the filter should be wringed out to keep the bike from suffocating and smoking.
