Joe, wish I could help, but as it is, I'm anxious to hear the answer myself as my wife rides a 300ex. Looks like you've already done a lot to yours though, and still want more. Perhaps a whole different quad is what you need.

Not sure what cheap is for you, but on my wifes 300ex, we got a white Bros E-series muffler for $300 and then I put a K&N air filter on and removed the air box lid. The stock jet was a 120 and now it has a 142. Those mods totally woke the quad up. Even just the pipe made a huge difference.

I asked myself that same question about 8 years ago when there was no such thing as a big bore sport quad. I learned the hard way that the answer to that question is no. My new 300ex turned out to be a pooch even compared to the 250x. I started with a pipe ($300)which made for better throttle response but zero increase in top speed. Then the standard airbox ,rejetting, which did give me a little more top end power (1/2 horse) . Then I installed a 352 stroker kit ($800)which really helped the torque and increased the top speed from 49 to 53mph acording to my cop neighbors radar gun. After the rev box ($120) and cam kit($180) let it rev beyond the cranks limits it broke the crank in half. New crank($500) Since I was still wanting I ported the crap out of the head. Installed plus two intake valves.($100) and then went ahead and blew the wad on a 406 stroker kit.($950) This jacked the top speed up to 65 which is exactly the same as a stock 400ex. Then the engine seriously overpowered the meek stock suspension so I blew the wad($1500)on plus 3 arms and progressive 250r shocks. The longer shocks needed new brackets welded onto the frame because they were 4 inches longer. Plus 3 swingarm and rear shock upgrade. Now my 300ex easily hangs with stock 400exs and z400s. Looking back I wish I would have sold it when the 400ex came out and saved a heck of a lot of cash. My advise is sell it and get a more powererfull quad. I listened to all the bull like get a pipe it will wake the quad up but all they do is wake the nieghbors up. Dynos dont lie. Were you disapointed after spending all that cash on on a yoshimura exhaust to get that 1 horse when for the same price you could have got a big bore kit and gained 3 to 5 horse . Talk is cheap and now I am all out of cash.

Hey Wistech,
You must of had a bad 300ex. MY wifes 300ex with the pipe, K&N, and jetting gained a lot of noticable power. It is also tough to beleive that the stock 300ex only goes 50mph. IF you want more top end, change the front sprocket. First gear is way too low and my wife almost never uses it, even when starting.

Go to a 305 over bore. I cant think of the piston size but it was $600 for all the work, a port job, cam, valve springs.
The 300 is only 282 so 305 is agood gain. Stay away from the 352 stroker to much$$$ and a time bomb.
