Hi Everyone
I just found your forum a few days ago and really like the selections of topics. I don't own a AVT yet but just bought a small farm in North Dakota and will buy an ATV soon. So I'm intereasted in Mowers, Snowplows/Blowers etc. I'll also ba sasking some questions that most of you might think pretty stupid, bear with me.
I've been looking at the Grizzly 660 and the Prairie 700. Any thoughts on either would be appreciated. Since the snow can get a liitle deap up there I thought about a snowblower instead of a plow. Once again any thought pro and con would be appreciated.

Welcome to the forum!
You can get tons of information on this site. First of all I have rode both machines, and their both good. You will find pros and cons about both. The Grizzly has more ground clearance and a softer ride, but are known to snap axles. The Prairie has a v-twin which is a stronger motor and has more aftermarket upgrades available for it. My Prairie 650 does just fine. I use it for play and hunting, and moving snow in the winter. I've never had any major problems with it, also it's very reliable.
If I was to purchase another quad now I would'nt hesitate to get another Prairie. The 700 has more power than my 650. Mine will run with a Grizzly but the 700 will eat it alive. I would test ride them both and see which one fits you the best. Good Luck.

Thanks Cammoman
I'm trying to find a recent comparison of the two machines. I found one on another web site but it is for the 2002 models and compares the Prairie 650 to the G660. I'd like to see a comparison of the 660 to the 700.
Since you are in SD I'll ask you about pushing snow. do you have a blade or a blower? And how deep a snow are you able to push? Wet or dry. I have a brother in loaw that has a 2002 Grizzly in N California between Sacto and reno and he says he pushes about 6-8 inches of the Sierra Cement they get up there. Very wet. I suspect that would compare in weight to about 2' of ND dry snow.
thanks

I have two buds that own Prairie 700's and we ride with Grizzlys (2) 2003's and one 2004 model. They do get through the mud better with the IRS suspension, but any where else the Prairies will walk away from them. As far as the snow goes I use a 50" moose plow. It works great for driveways and smaller areas. When I use it in the yard with deep snow you can only push so much before its too deep and it rolls up over the plow or the 4-wheeler starts to slide away from the windrow. When it gets that deep I get the tractor out! With the driveway the plow throws the snow out just like a plow on a pickup, works twice as fast as a tractor and loader. I've never seen a snow blower set up on a 4-wheeler! How does it work? Also sounds expensive.

I found the Snow Hogg snowblower at http://www.atvsnowblowers.com/ I don't know what they cost yet but that might be better than a plow.
