Deer and cattle mingle just fine, the cows are too lazy to do anything about the deer. Horses always got territorial out at my dad's ranch and would chase the deer around, making them a little more scarce.

 

As far as water source being tainted by cattle, the only water on the farm Ive hunted the last eight years was a spring-fed stream that was crossed by 150 holsteins 4 times a day. Needless to say it is one rank stream. But the deer have always been abundant, even though they have miles on which to roam. In fact we have had to use crop damage permits a few years to control them...

Around here,they graze together.

The reason you seen fewer deer might have been because the cows ate most of the feed there.

ive seen bucks defened does and fawns
from cyeotes,,,,,c eye o tees.

 

Cows are the best camo. Cows arnt scared of ppl, and deer dont know that, so[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img] My girlfriends daddy, uncle, cousin, and grandpa all hunt on a 800 acre hunting club close to here, and most of the deer are killed in the pastures along side the cows. Few 110-125 class bucks killed close to the cows, and a herd of does. The cows arnt gunshy, so you can shoot around the cows and they dont run. They even talked about building a shootin house and paintin it black and white, lol.
