Need some pic's of homemade arch's. I'm going to build my own timberframe house and need some good ideas of how to build my own cheap logging arch.

Check out Nichols trailers. their arch design is simple enough...although I'd hesitate to do one myself... Those trees can get heavy and I don't trust my own welding skills that much.

Might check futureforestry.com an outfit in Oregon. I went to a DNR demo a couple of years ago where they were using their atv logging arch, pretty slick. But even then was around $1,600. But really a good design. Light enough that you could throw it over a log and yet sturdy enough to haul a 20 foot log, 20" round. Not sure that it would do as well in real rough country though.

I remembered some people were interested in arches a while back, mine is just about finished and I should have some pics to post soon if anyone is still interested.

Still interested and would love to see pictures! The Forestry Forum had a picture of a pretty slick one just yesterday.

Default logging arch

I posted the pics to my profile page tonight, so as soon as they're approved they should be viewable. Mine was built for hauling out large fence posts, but it should be no trouble to enlarge the frame size to haul larger wood. The whole thing cost me under $200 Cdn to build, and took about two full days of work.
If the weather is decent this weekend, I've got plans to try it under working conditions, so I should have a couple of pics of it in action, with any luck.

This looks great, nice job on the log arch.
I think i need one of those. Will that have a winch mounted on it or is it run from a rear mounted winch?
Have you used one before? Is the idea to raise the front of the log enough not to dig in as it's dragged?
