I am shooting an old Martin and it is a great bow but if I were to buy new, I would look at the Bow Tech Allegiance. It is an awesome bow. If I had the cash, that would be my next bow.

There are so many choices out there, and in so many different price ranges, it tought to choose one. I have a PSE I'm very happy with, but I would look for a bow with parallel limbs. I don't know if you ever shot a parallel limb design, but man they are quiet and have no vibration at all. Tend to be on the higher end of the price scale though also...

gotta go the Bowtech. might as well get the best. find a used tomcat or liberty if you can find someone parting with it. i know my next one is going to be a bowtech.

My brother just bought a new TomKat a few months ago and that is an awesome bow. I don't think he could of gotten a better bow for the price. I am not brand loyal by any means, but I do like what botech has to offer. Try this website to help you choose.

Last year about this time i bought a Fred Bear Realtree Tracker1 from Gander Mountain it came with sights and a cable guard for around $275 its a lightweight fast hard hitting awesome bow for the price, i got no complaints i spent under $350 for everything including a hard case .... i would say go for the buckmaster it will get the job done and probably wont coast you a thousand bucks once you get all your accessories

My buddy has a Fred Bear Buckmaster. He killed a few deer w/ it last year, and it seemed to do pretty good. He shoots it well.

I have a HighCountry that I love, but I dont have much experiance with a lot of bows. It is pretty fast, and real quite. I can shoot it better than most bows I have tried, so thats what I'm stickin to.

If you have the oppertunity, find a place that will let you shoot several different brands and models of bows. When you find one that is quite and you shoot good, buy it.

First off, I would decide on a budget and try and stick to it. Then I would go to a pro shop that will let you shoot different bows so you can decide what feels best to you that is in your budget. My last bow was a Hoyt Razor Tech and cost $660 without any accessories. We can tell you all day long what we like but you are the one who has to make the end decision. I LOVE my Hoyt and would recommend it hands down. I shot a Bowtech, Mathews, and about 4 others. I could really tell a difference in vibration in my bow hand from the way the Hoyt is made. It's solid. I have a chronograph and me and my buddies shoot across it and we're all about the same with our hunting set-ups. Close to 28-290. We have guys shooting most major brands so for me the bottom line is what you like and can afford. Not everyone is willing to drop $1000 bucks by the time all of the goodies are added on. One other note, places like Dick's and other places like them are not very high in my book. Most of the time the people working in the hunting dept are pretty well clueless. Their prices are generally lower but I like the smaller proshops when buying something like a bow. Dick's is great for the other items but I don't trust them with something like a bow.

I appreciate everyones advice. Decided on a bow today. After trying several (drawing back only) I was at a local shop that let me shoot a Mathews Switchback. I immediately fell in love with until I heard the price ($850 w' sight and rest). Right next ot it on the rack was a Mathews Outback. Came as a package (minus the quiver) for $700. Price was about two hundred more that I planned on spending, but after sending several arrows down range I couldn't believe how smooth and quiet it is. Absolutely no vibration. It has a parallel limb design. Hopefully I made the right choice. Thanks again.
