I'm a firm believer in shot placement and knowing my limitations, so putting it behind the shoulder is usually not a problem. I will be giving the ballistic tips a try this year, but as was also mentioned by xring... I do like an exit hole as well. I think the ballistic tips (or equivilant) should provide both.
PS. I like your Lab - do you hunt him?

 

Well....shot the 25-06 and feel pretty confident with it. I also shot my 300 mag.....boy oh boy....I shot about a 1/2-3 shot group about 1 1/2 high at 100 yds. I really couldnt believe I did that well. If I could have done that a month ago...I might not have bought the 25-06....oh well...now I have my a coyote caliber as well as a new deer rifle!
