Default Plowing

Not really an atv topic but i was wondering how are garden tractor at plowing snow? I recieved a plow for free as well as an old craftsman mower with an 18hp motor. I was thinking of just weilding it up on to the mower and using the deck lever to raise and lower it. I know i will need chains and i have wheel weights. Is there anything else recomended.

It won't work worth a crap. THere is no way you could get enough speed or traction to keep pushing the snow.

I have plowed with our cab cadet with wheel wieghts and tire chains....it did ok...but when it really snows out here, you couldn't keep up with that thing.....and it would not have the traction to plow a mound of snow very high....

I have a 27hp compact utility tractor, probably around 3000 lbs, that I have used for plowing. It doesn't work all that well, you can't go fast enough to get the snow to roll and throw properly. Both my neighbors use 4-wheelers with plows, they do a better job in less time. I just ordered a plow for my Grizzly today. I used to have a blower on a cub cadet, that worked OK when I was back around Buffalo. I have a lot of driveway (3/8 mile) to do now, we'll see how it works out.

One hint, you want the spring trips on your blade. Last winter I had a trip to the er for stitches when I hit something with the tractor. Even at 8 mph or so, when that thing stops right now...you don't.

i use my Johndeer to do my drivway.

375 foot drive way, i use a snow blower, i was going right thrue 4 foot drifts 2 winters ago.

its power by a 636 CC kawasaki Vtwin same motor as the prarie, works great alot of torque.

i have never had a problem. and at full speed(10mph) i can get it done faster then my naighbors does his 90 foot drive wth his truck....

also with the blower i dont get huge banks on the side of my driveway, and when im done it allways looks un-touched and so nice a clean!
