Bug Out Bag
#3
I have several. I have one that I keep in the truck. It has supplies that can last basically last 72 hours or so. It's main function is to get me home. The one at home is designed to be able to grab if I had to abandon the house very quickly without being able to pack. It has food and water for a week along with medical supplies, radiological/chemical supplies, simple shelter materials and extra clothing, flashlights, chemlights, radio gear, personal protection and other various gear. All gear is stored in a couple of unobtrusive packs which in turn I place in steel boxes. If time would permit I could of course pack more and have containers set aside for that purpose.
Will I ever need this stuff? Hopefully not. But it is better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it. In most disasters and likely scenarios I have came up with for my area I shelter in place due to my location. If caught away from home my best bet is to get back home.
History, recent and otherwise says you're on your own during a disaster and a bugout bag is a good first step in caring for yourself and your loved ones.
