Annual Hunting Thread

Sorry I'm late on posting this pic. I was waiting for the official Boone & Crockett scores. His official score is 196 5/8ths non-typical with a gross score of 203 3/8ths. I shot him nov. 17, 2007 with a .300 wsm. He make the all time B&C record book!

Very nice cammoman. Did you take all of your trouphies on your own property? If so, do you have feed plots and/or feeders? It would be very interesting to know if you are getting such wonderful results from a program that you have built.

I hunt on my friends property which runs along the Missouri river and it is right next to the boy scouts camp that does not allow hunting. There is 320 acres of draws and ravines with thick cover. We are looking at putting in a couple food plots this spring, but with the heavy deer population out there we are worried it won't get a chance to grow unless we fence it untill archery season starts. We usually shoot at least 1 or 2 deer between 150" to 220" each year.
I find a couple good sheds every spring of deer I don't even see during the hunting season.

I just read some of these posts. You guys shoot your deer in the next? I shoot right behind the shoulder double lung if I'm lucky. But the last two I shot were high and got the spine too and didn't go anywere. Even if the go a little its fun to track

I generally shoot North American game behind the shoulder. In Africa you need to hit them right on the shoulder; I found that out the hard way after I hit my first animal and ended up chasing him up and down hills for two hours before I got my second shot, and then only had a neck shot over the backs of some cattle. I chased him again for another 45 minutes before I was able to hit him right on the shoulder. After all of that he still went another 100 yards after the third hit. I learned my lesson and the next 12 in a row were one shot - one kill.

Lol wow I said next. Ahh I only thought about shooting a deer in the neck once because I was close to a boundry line and didn't want to deer to run on the next prop. cause I didn't know them to good but I never took the shot
