ATV plow questions
#1
Recently I have moved into a new home & the back yard is sloped greatly. I would like to change the slope into three equal level steps, each would be about five to ten feet. Would a snow plow be tough enough to break hard ground? I will be using my '00 Polaris Sportsman. Please pass on any usefull info. Thanks.

go to the local rent-all and rent a bobcat or equivilant and save the head ache and wear and tear on your quad for about 240 / day
besides i think you'd tear up a snow plow in no time... and the mini loaders are a blast to drive

You can use your plow to move loose earth or gravel but you're not going to do any digging with it. It isn't going to dig into hard ground.
itch is correct in advising that you rent a bobcat or something similar.
Depending on the size of the job and the cost of rental you may be ahead in just hiring backhoe or dozer. A skilled operator can do a lot of work in the time it takes for you to just get the hang of an unfamiliar machine.

No an atv with snowplow will not touch hard ground. Just not something that it is made for. As others have said rent a bobcat or look in the newspaper for bobbat work, even in the sticks here there are ads for that.

I rented a Bobcat last spring and moved my entire back yard that was on a slope to put in a pool. I would suggest finding one with tracks, it will do alot more work.
I used my quad to do the finish grading and spreading top soil.
