I am not sure quite how many of you have heard about Geocaching, But I figured I would share the idea with you as I think it's one of the funnest things going. i also love the outdoors and using ATV's to get around fits right in with this.
Geocaching is the use of a GPSR (Global Positioning System Receiver) to place or find a container known as a "Cache". Once a cache is hidden the hider takes a coordinate reading with his/her GPSR and then posts those coordinates on a website at www.Navicache.com Once these coordinates are posted a cache page is auto generated showing the coordinates as well as any added pictures or text clues the hider wishes to add. Now another Cacher can read that page and program his/her GPSR with those posted coordinates, they can then go after the cache by following the pointer on the GPSR. If the cache container is found ther finder writes a comment in the log book inside the cache box and trades trinkets that are inside as well. The cache is then sealed back up and placed in the exact spot it was found for the next Cacher. The finder then goes back to the website at www.navicache.com and posts a find report which shows everyone his/her comments on what they thought of the adventure. They are then awarded points for the finds as well as it keeps track of each cache found. This is a very cool website and there are caches placed all over the world. You guys have got to check this out!
