Ticking me off
#1
Went hunting this afternoon before the rain came in. I wind was just right and I had a fox come within 10 yds of me and lay there like a dog with it's nose in the air, testing the winds. Late afternoon I had a large doe come out of a hedge row right in front of me and she pranced off when a few turkeys decided to come in to roost . Gee, they are clumsy as heck crashing and knocking branches off as they land. Looked like 747s. LOL. I saw alot of wild life but not anything I wanted to bring home. The last thing I wanted to bring home is what I found when I got home. I undressed in the bathroom and to my surprise found several TICKS that hitched a ride home. Those damn things seem to be migrating further North every year. Back in 1999 I came down with Lyme disease so I check myself everytime out. I was thinking of getting a small bug proof tent with floor. Anybody out there have a solution to the tick problem. I look forward to your responses.

bug spray with deet should work.
read the can I think some have extra ingredents for ticks.
Also I remember their is something that you can put on your cloths that will kill them when they walk on it. supposed to go through the wash a few times too.

Pulsar,
Thanks for the reply. I picked up a can of bugs off today for ticks. The scentless kind. I went hunting this afternoon but didn't sit down at all. No ticks but it snowed last nite and it was cold today and this afternoon.

King Quad,
Yes Ticks were out yesterday and I brought a bunch home. The wife appreciated it. LOL. I went today after it snowed and I was tick free. I'm not sure if it was the fact that I didn't sit down, The temp was in the low 30's or that I used a tick spray. I live on Cossayuna Lake in the Town of Argyle. I'm located about 60 miles North East of Albany .

Range Rover,
I caught lyme disease in DEC. before. We had a few warm days when the bugs came out and sure enough the ticks were out. My daughter picked me up some tick and bug repellent in a spray can,non scented. What a rip off at 11 bucks for 3 ozs. A few years ago we didn't have this problem but now seems like were infested with them. I took 3 off one of my dogs and 2 off the other dog this summer.

Cabelas sells bug proof under clothing, I wear it for our early extended deer season up here in maine come September and it works for me. Needless to say no ticks but a few porcupine quills in the A$$ when I sat down in the crotch of a tree, funny thing is I did not notice till I got home on the shower. 6 stitches later and a little humiliation taught me to look before you plant youre butt.

Glenn,
Thanks for the clothing tip. I'll sure look into it.Funny story about the quills.I never had that happen ,yet anyway. I went hunting yeterday and saw a four point near the edge of a field .It took me about 1 and 1/2 hours to get around on him and when I did he had walked onto posted property. There he was 35 yds from me and on land I can't hunt. Anyway I passed the shot up. I went again this morning and sat at the end of the field hoping I would see this guy again. At about 9:30am a few deer passed thru up in the hardwoods so I decided to go stalking. I got within 50yds of these deer when all of a sudden a four point jumped up looking my direction.I stood motionless until he turned his head then I raised the 44 mag and shot him behind the shoulder. After that 4 does took off for parts unknown. I wish I had my wheeler now so I could off carried it out. Oh well, happy hunting

BillyClub,
What is the weather like in Maine right now? I have a friend who just finished multiengine flight training in the Navy and will be going from Oklahoma City to Maine next week for two weeks of survival training. I'm not sure he has ever seen snow. He is a little concerned. I told him to find a sugar maple tree and just suck all the juice out of it.
