Question Hello from Texas

I looked far and wide and found you. I might not be posting in the correct area but have a problem with a 2006 Honda ES Rancher 350cc. It's the one in my avatar.

If I leave my gas turned on like I normally do I smell gas. I put it outside today after starting it and was getting ready for washing. I notice the drain hose 1/4" that I assume allows a flooded carb to drain?? dripping gas and wouldn't stop until I turned off the gas. I don't see anything in my book about that hose and really why it's there.

Any ideas. I'm afraid of leaving it in the garage with the hot water heater.

Thanks, Steve from Baytown, Texas near Galveston

Moose thanks. I did find an older post in Honda page 2 of threads that ensured me yes this is a problem with my type, Setting up is not good even with Sta-Bil Marine which does water and ethenol. I will drop the bowl and get that float loose, but not to after turkey football day. Normally a fishing after Turkey Day. I just might go out anyway.

Trinity Bay is my backyard on the Galveston Bay System my boat is JustAddWater...

I love your signature and live by it as well.

Talking Thank You for Having Me

HawkeyeRider, super pics in your photobucket. You sure got it going on. I believe I found a new forum of good old guys and I'll need your valuable advice now and then.

Keep the helment on even though it's hot sometimes. My brother has been out a year recovering from loose gravel and decided to head another way than the bike. Spilt his head wide open on hard dirt and couldn't see his face from the blood. Kinda got our attention you know. He's good now.

Happy Holidays, Steve
BTW, go find my post in Honda, got a few pics.

Welcome to the forum! Sounds like a stuck float, while it's out might as well clean the jets and all. Clean the needle valve seat may also have junk in there.

Cool Thanks Guys

Yeap got some funk junk. I know in Texas we have ethanol or corn syrup in our gas and it gets sticky if set up a month. I found if I used Sta Bil Marine and Marvin's Mystery Oil in the gasoline storing it works every time. It does not effect the runing but might smell funny.

I did not do it this time. my bad, but it's like soaking your carb with mystery ingredients that lube and resist water as well as keeping the ethanol from jelling. A carb is so simple, but a speck in a carb makes a bad day. I'm not an expert, but a motocross racer from the old days and we got things under control with the right mixtures. The oil and Sta Bil is the answer for darn sure.

Enjoy you Holidays and ride ride ride, Steve

I'm a fishing guide on Galveston Bay and have got the boat motors under control. Wana Fish, Let me know. Trout, Reds and Flounder..... Ummmm Gooood

Welcome fellow Texan! North side of Houston here, out in the National Forest. Holler if you ever need a fishing partner or want someone to take you around to the ATV hot spots.
