Default 86 lt230sg

Hey Y'all, I'm new to the forum, I have an 86LT230SG that I bought from the original owner for $500.

It runs good, but tops out at around 40MPH, and has a "tick" going on in the engine. I would like to tear it completely apart and rebuild it, but my budget is REALLY tight.

Anyone know where I can get a Factory Service Manual for under $100? It would probably take me several months to rebuild it with whatever parts might need to be replaced.

But I would at least like to be able to keep up with my wife on her '03 Yamaha Kodiak 450 utility quad. Stinkin thing will pull me (at 230 lbs) down the road at 55 and still have plenty of guts. From what I read on here, the 230 should dust the 450 with no problem. I am left in the dust....

Thanks in advance for any help y'all can give me.

Welcome! I have the exact same ride!! Good luck with the rebuild... i just came across this website for parts. I don't know how legit it is, i am going to call them tomorrow for some things and find out, but the prices are really nice and supposedly free shipping in the us... Vince's Cycle.com

Thanks for the info, I will check out the site now, Maybe I can get an FSM for under $100! I don't want the Clymer manual, I have had several before for a couple different bikes I have owned and they all left me wanting more info...
