Battery/regulator issues

Battery/regulator issues
i currently have an 05 and 07 LTA 700 kingquad. i am having issues with the battery/regulator. not sure why but i am getting about 16.5v when they are not running and about 17.5v when they are running???? they only have 12v batteries!!! so do i have really bad luck and blew both regulators? any help..... thanks
