Hi, my name is Greg, and I am from Western MA. I am currently shopping for a used 4x4 in excelent condition. I am looking for a mid sized ATV, and would prefer IRS and some sort of differential locker. I have owned a 1987 Honda Fourtrax 300 and a 2000 Grizzly, (and I have been stuck before!). I am looking to use this machine for yard work and trail riding, and my wife is also looking forward to riding it. I am considering pretty much everything, from the Grizzly 450 to an Outlander, or even the MAX 2-up series. I am even considering the Honda Rancher and Foreman series, (even though there is no IRS or locker) just for their reliability. It gets kind of confusing because a lot of the machines have different assortments of features, and there have been many name changes along the way (Suzuki Eiger, the entire King Quad series, the Kawasaki series, etc.).
I ahve been doing as much research as I can, looking for any potential pitfalls with any particular brand, but it seems that most are fairly reliable nowadays.
If anybody here can give me their opinion on why a particular brand is good, or not so good, I would certainly appreciate it.
Also, if anybody in MA, RI, CT, VT, NH, or ME knows of a good deal on a nice machine, I would certainly appreciate the tip!
