More pressure does make the steering lighter and is good in situations where you're trying to get down to the hard surface beneath the snow. Less air is for situations where you want to "float" on top of the surface. If you are traveling on a hard packed surface that has snow on it keep the tires air pressure on the high side. If snow is deep and may support the quad keep the air on the lower side to float on top.

I might be able to help you out. I work as rep for 'alternatives' to the branded name products. You can send me a picture if you want and I'll probably be able to tell who the manufacturer is. You probably purchased a chinese off branded product. I have a database here with who most of them are.
